When it comes down to it, The Hillbilly can't really say he enjoys the Entity's games. There are plenty of other killers and monsters out there, more than willing to commit murder on a nearly hourly basis, or ... what he SUPPOSES would be hourly, if this place had a sense of time. Once you get taken by the fog, nobody ever really ages, and there doesn't seem to be any sense of time passing. Yet, despite having so many people from so many time periods, everyone understands each other perfectly. They don't know how, or why, but that means it's easier for cooperation. Easier to get to know everyone, to cooperatte, to intimidate ... And wrapping back to the Hillbilly, he gets only half the luxury. Being here, unfortunately, didn't really grant him the ability to speak; what it did grant him the ability to do was guttural, monstrous growls when the entity grips his mind in a vice grip. It twists him, it makes him so much more angry and violent and intimidating than he ever wants to be ...
So even though he doesn't enjoy it's games, he can do very little to soothe the survivors. If anything, he just feels more monstrous than ever. He's too big, he's too intimidating; many survivors try to run, even when he tries to spare them, and it's so disheartening. He'll carry on with his job, then, seeing no point in trying to spare survivors most of the time. He winces, every time that chainsaw of his shreds open a survivor and spatters blood all over his favorite shirt. It's almost always inevitably cleaner once the trials are over, but it's still grody, and the scent of blood has long been embedded in his nostrils. It's not often anyone even comes close enough to him for long periods of time, let alone to distract him; they all fear his chainsaw far too much. Except ... lately, whenever he's put in trials with one Dwight Fairfield, well..
It all changes.
Hillbilly notes that he's very self sacrificial. No matter how often he tries to avoid said survivor simply because he's an easy kill, and he feels bad for killing him, he always seems to end up in his path. Billy would be lying if he said this doesn't pique his interest, and said interest only grows bigger every time that they encounter each other in a trial. He's tried to hunt him down, tried to show mercy, but no matter what, the guy thinks he's going to kill him! And he's not, not when he can help it anyways ... eventually, he succeeds in hunting him down, though. It takes awhile, but they've been placed on the Thompson estate, and he knows the house like the back of his hand. He knows Dwight's the only survivor left, the others having pretty much left him for dead, and he's alone. He might be doing that thing where he refuses to leave until the Entity punishes him, since Hillbilly hadn't managed to down anyone, and had no interest in downing them this go around. So what if the Entity punishes him? He's been through way worse. It's not like whatever It has in store for him will make him feel any worse. With this in mind, he's managed to corner Dwight to the edge of the house, inescapable, having herded him into the corner with his chainsaw revving for intimidation. He's not necessarily proud of doing that, but it was a necessity; if he hadn't done that, they'd have just been looping til the Entity's timer ran out! But, they do still have a solid few minutes before the Entity punishes Dwight for not escaping, and all Billy wants to do is talk.
Even though the survivor is trembling as he stalks closer, the chainsaw raised up as if he'll slash ... he stops at the last second, and he throws back the chainsaw to the ground, as well as the cattleprod he'd wielded. He crouches down to Dwight's level, sitting on his haunches, and stares at him with an unreadable expression behind his scarred face, before attempting to sign with him.
I'm not going to hurt you. I promise. I just need to know, do you need help finding the hatch?
