In purgatory, or the closest thing to hell she'd get, she thought she would have been safe from everyone. Stanheight, Gordon, Hoffman, fuck even John.
Nope. Not even a sliver of that luck, and on top of it they shared a 'living space'. Adam wasn't obligated to stay, and though most of the time he did...He left sometimes, too. Leaving Hoffman and Amanda to their own devices. Usually the two stayed pretty separated, easier that way go avoid everything altogether. Sometimes though, much like today, one of them would need something from where the other was. Amanda found herself sat on the concrete, a tools strewn beside her and scrap metal being assembled in her lap.
The static overwhelmed her, but she would prefer it to silence where she could hear every click in the distance, every minor cough or sneeze. It was better this way, the constant buzz.
Of course, it was better until she heard footsteps. Maybe Adam was coming back? Maybe he had some stupid psuedo smart thing to say. Amanda's disappointed would be put through the roof when she looked into the sliding doorway to see none other than Mark Hoffman. Wonderful. She hadn't had a bad day recently, so maybe now it was time.
If he was completely honest, he hated it here, he was calmer since his little outburst that caused him to end up here. Honestly, he regretted that moment in his life, mainly since it caused him his own death thanks to Lawrence. But anyways. Not truly the point here.
The point was that he was here with Amanda of all people. Not a great thing considering he knew Amanda didn’t like him and he didn’t like her. But that always placed a question. Why...? I mean, sure, he was jealous of her because John had her be the jigsaw apprentice that’d carry on the legacy despite him being there first.
So you could blame it on him for that but Amanda wasn’t too nice back either. So, it was probably a group effort if he had to guess, not that he could truly remember. Perhaps he’d ask her later. But right now wasn’t the time. He just approached her and just looked at her. He needed something other than questions answered, right? I mean, it didn’t seem like him just to go and ask questions without reason. Especially if it was Amanda. So it was hard to say where this conversation would go.
“What are you doing?” He asked the gal in front of him, breaking the small bit of silence they had. This was going to be interesting to watch.

"Building the tower of Piza. What does it look like?" Ah, sarcasm. She was sure Mark hadnfk love that. Amanda young snapping at him? Never. Completely uncalled for! She didn't even particularly have a reason today, she just hated having Hoffman in her space.
As someone she knew would have said "his vibe was simply just fuckin' God awful."
Maybe if she knew him better she'd think differently, but she didn't have the time. Even in the realm, where time didn't exist the same.
"Did you need something, Hoffman? I'm sure you have other friends," Even implying that Hoffman saw her as a friend was comedic, she couldn't imagine how he did but... Weirder things could happen, she supposed.
Ah. Sarcasm. Always the same with her, wasn’t it? Hasn’t changed much clearly. But hey, he was here to build bridges, not burn them. This was gonna be difficult though, not only did they not get along but Hoffie seemed to have a common theme of being more destructive judging by how he ended up here...
“What I want isn’t something you’d expect, probably something you’d laugh at if anything.” Amanda wasn’t one to build many bridges, she mostly kept to herself, but if it’s Hoffman? She’d burn the bridge and then build about 6 walls.
Needless to say, that small fact was holding him back from admitting what he wanted and why he was here...to try not allow John to take away someone that’d understands what it’s like. “Hm. But uh, anyways.” Awkward ass- “You uh, hm...you doing okay? Need anything?” Ah yes, totally not suspicious that he’s asking someone he doesn’t get along with. Well done Hoffman. He was likely mentally swearing at himself over how bad his social skills were and how damn weird that is for him to ask that.

"Ha ha," A dry, fake laugh from Amanda. "Alrigh, got the laughter out of my system so, spit it out Hoffman." She looked down, back at the project in her lap.
It took her a moment to process that he asked how she was. Alright. That's weird. "As good as I can be in purgatory, I guess." The question didn't get returned. She didn't really care.
What could he possibly want that he was trying to suck up to her for? A favor? Kindness? Reassurance? There were so, so many better people to go to for all of that than her. Even in the Killers alone, there were better people to go to. Sally, Adiris, Philip... So why was he here? It made no sense.
