Talbot had long grown used to the silence, on most days unwavering asides from the occasional call of a crow, and the scamper of some small rodent as it scurried across uneven wooden boards. Few made the effort to seek the chemist out, and he preferred that.
Of course, some people were exceptions.
The sound was distinct, but he couldn’t quite make out what it was. He reacts slowly, sitting up from where he was leaned over his desk, brow furrowing as he turns to look at the open doorway of his makeshift home. A moment passed in silence, with his hollow eyes still fixated on the entrance, before he stood up, cane then in hand. It was used to take the first few steps, but as he neared his destination Talbot was quick to brandish it. He scanned the forest, searching for even the slightest movement between thin trees, but if there was anything out there, the fog was doing one hell of a job covering it. Maybe it had all just been a trick of the mind, his imagination running wild? Or perhaps The Entity just teasing him, their connections didn’t mean he was immune to her odd trickery. With a sigh, The Blight turned back around, retreating into his shelter…
Until something darted just out of his view. There had to be something there. His grip on his weapon tightened, and the man let out a low, guttural sound, a vague “who goes there” that could hardly be made out from it’s lack of hard consonants.
To understand the human condition, one must rise above it.
The Ghostface for all intents and purposes, was incredibly nosy by nature. He was also severely competitive, and the entity surely exacerbated these traits to the fullest out in it’s realms. He had heard whispers of this killer for a while now, and originally was going to settle with his usual methods of sitting in on trials, taking his notes, and keeping to himself. However, when he heard of the man’s connection to the entity, he completely disregarded his usual methodical methods for a more… Direct approach.
It took him forever to track down Talbot’s place within the ever sprawling forests between realms, but he could spot it through the trees as more of those pustule like flowers started to grow towards it. A sickening garden that smelled of a sour like honey hung in the distance and he wrinkled his nose behind his mask as he slowly approached.
He got fairly close until he mistakenly stepped onto a rather thick vine that connected some of the flowers. He cringed at the loud crunch and popping sounds it made under his boot and shrunk behind a thick tree as he suddenly spotted the man in the doorway to his hideaway. Danny hurriedly made his way closer as Talbot was distracted, only to peer out just enough to size up the other man as he heard him speak.
It took him a moment to parse out his words, but given he had enough distance, he moved out behind the tree a bit more.
“You don’t seem to get a lot of visitors, I take it?” The Ghostface leaned against the tree, crossing his arms but still keeping a close eye on Talbot. He didn’t like the way he was gripping his cane.
“Usually I’d say I’m passing through, but I actually wanted to… Talk.”

By then, he was on high alert, head on a swivel to the slightest of sounds. Another moment of silence passed, and once again Talbot began to doubt his eyes - until he heard that voice. In an instant, his whole body snapped over to the stranger’s direction, cane raised higher and in a stance from which he could dart at any moment. Hollow eyes observe the man as he tilted his head ever so slightly to the side. There were so many killers he’d never met, so many who’d likely been told right off the bat to avoid him. This one didn’t catch the memo, but his calmness was enough to deter The Blight from faking an attack and chasing the murderer out of his diseased garden.
One hand let go of the cane, the other still gripping the makeshift weapon with intensity, and he started signing. His movements were aggressive and quick, not having the patience to spare if Danny was unable to keep up or understand.
“Most people don’t come out here for a reason. You either weren’t told why, or are a fool, and I get the feeling you know what you’re doing.”
With just a near blank-expressioned to substitute for the stranger’s face, Talbot couldn’t tell if he was driven by genuine curiosity or a trap. Why do so many of them have to wear masks? Either way, he gave in, decided to entertain Ghostface, at least for now.
“Alright. Make it quick.”
