There wasn’t much for them here, nothing to tether onto when they felt fear, nothing to destroy to make it better. Walls went up when others asked if they were okay, if they needed help beyond a patch up, or support that wasn’t an extra hand on a generator. Things didn’t make sense here, none of it did, and everyone’s calm demeanor during these ‘trials’ was starting to agitate them. Especially him. With his sunglasses and smug smile, the one they called Ace acted as if he didn’t have a single worry in the world. Jill knew people like that on the force, they usually were often very worried in actuality, or just plain stupid. While they were a part of the Special Tactics and Rescue Service, they saw plenty of young dumb wannabe’s, and nervous wrecks that masked everything under some stiff hairgel. Ace was neither, which turned their dislike for him into intrigue.
It wasn’t long before they slipped into reminisce, wishing desperately to return to the way things once were, simple. Umbrella was simply that, and they were going to stop the end of the world once and for all. If they had done so then, maybe they wouldn’t be here now. What that man had said, right before they got trapped here. Run. No matter how far they ran into those woods surrounding them, they always returned here. That was the rule, no running away.
While there were set boundaries in this realm, in between the trials the humans were sent to this forest realm, while the monsters went… Somewhere else. Jill had no idea where they went when they weren’t stalking the grounds, and they didn’t want to find out. Here, it was sort of limbo, you could rest if you needed, but the potential dangers around them were too unnerving for them to close their eyes. Opting to sit away from the large fire, the logs surrounding it usually occupied with those they didn’t really want to talk with. That is, until they spotted him sitting there, the fire reflecting off his sunglasses, that devil smile. Who did he remind them of? Not realizing their staring gaze, they quickly turned back to looking at their boots, clawing their memories until that pale haired snake flashed behind their eyelids, his sunglasses reflecting explosions, his lips pressed tightly together. Surely this guy wasn’t him, but at least now they weren’t sitting here agonizing over just who he could resemble.
