Having teenagers at the campfire was the best thing for Laurie's sanity, and especially ones like Heather. She took everything and just let it roll off her back. It was easy to laugh with her, and she was able to actually get away from the feeling of being hunted. Heather, and Quentin were the two people who successfully made her feel like that most of the time. Though, she knew what she had in common with the other two. How deeply traumatized all three of them were... Maybe that was comforting in it's own way, that she wasn't alone with that.

"I can't believe after all of that you still scared him, you're sick." Laurie said, but in spite of her words she laughed. Of course, Heather had given her the cliff notes. The funny moments — everything that seemed too bizarre to be real.
Yet, Laurie didn't look deeper into it. She absorbed what Heather wanted her to, and didn't do more than that.
